The VORTEC (VIABAHN open revascularization technique) and the chimney graft technique are tools with which to maintain or restore blood flow to the aortic branches and can be used intentionally or as a bailout procedure in open surgery or endovascular procedures. VORTEC is a stent graft-based vascular connection technique that achieves end-to-end anastomosis configuration; it is especially useful when the traditional suture technique proves (can be) cumbersome. Abstract Objective: To investigate whether dopexamine hydrochloride beneficially influences splanchnic perfusion and regulators of the macrocirculation and microcirculation in patients undergoing surgery of the abdominal aorta. Design: Prospective, blinded, and randomized study. Setting: University-affiliated hospital. Participants: Twenty patients undergoing elective abdominal aortic surgery. 16 DSA investigations using intra-arterial Gd-DTPA were performed on 12 patients. The contrast medium was administered either as a 0.5 molar gadolinium solution (commercially available) or diluted with distilled water to a 0.2-0.4 molar gadolinium solution. The injection was made either by pressure injector or by hand. The aortic arch, abdominal aorta and pelvic and lower limb arteries were examined. 14 of the 16 procedures were diagnostically adequate, but compared with iodinated contrast materials, contrast was less marked. Successful use of impella CP through femoral access in a patient with bilateral iliac and aortic endoprosthesis in the setting of cardiogenic shock

We report the case of a 67-year-old male, with previous history of severe peripheral vascular disease (abdominal aorta aneurism and bilateral iliac stenosis) requiring the implantation of 3 endoprostheses 7 months ago (Figure 1(A)), and previous myocardial infarction 10 years ago. The left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) was preserved at last control (58%). The patient was referred for acute coronary syndrome complicated with pulmonary oedema and cardiogenic shock. 3D segmentation of abdominal aorta from CT-scan and MR images

International audience; We designed a generic method for segmenting the aneurismal sac of an abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) both from multi-slice MR and CT-scan examinations. It is a semi-automatic method requiring little human intervention and based on graph cut theory to segment the lumen interface and the aortic wall of AAAs. Our segmentation method works independently on MRI and CT-scan volumes and has been tested on a 44 patient dataset and 10 synthetic images. Abstract Heart failure (HF) is a clinical syndrome caused by structural and/or functional cardiac abnormalities, resulting in a reduced cardiac output and/or elevated intracardiac pressures at rest or during stress. Sirenomelia, case report and review of the literature.

We present a case of sirenomelia diagnosed in the first trimester of pregnancy. The ultrasound examination showed fused lower extremities and an anechoic structure in the lower abdomen that is clue in the early diagnosis. The postmortem study showed the existence of a single umbilical artery (vitelline artery), with an origin in the abdominal aorta. This finding not only explained the presence of a vascular steal with subsequent underdeveloped of pelvic organs, but also differentiated this condition from caudal regression syndrome.
